Speed Shopper CEO Mitchell McElroy visited several Carulla and Jumbo grocery stores in Medellin Colombia to meet with store associates and observe shopping habits and patterns to learn how the Speed Shopper app can be most effectively implemented in the Latin American market once translated to Spanish.

Overall grocery sales in this region are marginally higher than those in the U.K., with the largest grocery markets being Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela and Chile. After remaining flat in 2008 and 2009, grocery spending in Latin America is on the rise, with total grocery sales reaching US$788.1 billion in 2011 and that number has grown steadily since.

Speed Shopper is currently only available in English, but we’ll soon be launching an option within Speed Shopper to support Spanish and various other languages.
